Geiger signed the contract in 2001 his team the Philadelphia 76ers but knee injuries caused him to quit in 2002 following a 10-year career. Over the course of his time in the league, he averaged 9.2 scores and 5.7 rebound per game.
At the end of summer 2000 Matt Geiger’s insistence on not waiving the $5 million trade kicker provision in his contract halted the four-team agreement with Philadelphia as well as the Hornets and the Detroit Pistons and the L.A. Lakers which would have the Lakers sent All-Star star Allen Iverson to the Pistons. Geiger was suspended for two games in the 2000-01 season due to an infraction to the NBA/NBPA’s policy on steroids.
