She was one of five children of Bernadette Joan Sheridan and Benedict P. O’Meara. She is of Irish descent, and was raised Catholic. Before attending the University of Tennessee, she attended Catholic schools including Saint Saviour High School. O’Meara left school to return home with David Driscoll, her first husband. They moved to Vermont in 1975 after Driscoll’s employer, IBM transferred him. After their arrival in Vermont, and the birth of their son Dave, the couple split. From her marriage to Driscoll she has three children: Heather Titus and Carina Driscoll.
