DJ Kane was one of the original members along with Frankie J to leave Los Kumbia Kings for a solo career, and signed a contract with EMI Latin to record and form his own group. With help from veteran musicians Roland Gutierrez and Mariano Harerra, he put together a super group with musicians from famous backgrounds and a high power show which would leave audiences shocked. In 2004, he released his self-titled first album DJ Kane which went to number 8 on the Billboard charts with hits including “La Negra Tomasa” and “Mía”, also earning two Latin Grammy nominations for Best Urban Album and Producer of the Year.
In 2007 Jason released his third album as a solo artist titled Capítulo III: Ahogando Penas.
