In March 1999 The Lightning sold Peterson for The Pittsburgh Penguins organization. Peterson was released after the season which is when The Nashville Predators signed him. In the 1999-00 season Peterson played the entire season playing for the Admirals which is which was the Predators’ IHL affiliate, scoring 32 points during the regular season, and five during the playoffs. Peterson made the move to Europe during the 2000-01 season and began his season playing for the SCL Tigers in Switzerland’s National League A. In his 10 games, he scored two assists and three goals before going to Germany to join the Deutsche Eishockey League’s Kassel Huskies. Peterson ended the 2000-01 season for the Tigers and stayed for three more seasons at the club. His most successful performance during his time in Germany was 2002-03 when the team scored 25 points in the regular season, as well as three points during the playoffs.

He scored five goals over 19 matches for the Lightning as well as 40 assists and 20 goals with the IHL’s Milwaukee Admirals. Peterson played his last NHL games during the 1998-99 season when Peterson scored two goals as well as the only NHL assist in the 20 games played by the Lightning. Additionally, he scored 12 assists and 13 goals in 35 games with 2 IHL clubs.
